The Police Staff College in Jos has commenced three major professional training programmes at the same time for the first time in its history.
The courses are the Tactical Leadership and Command Course, the Operational Leadership and Command Course and the Advanced Detective Course.
The six week programmes are designed for senior police officers and personnel from other security agencies.
College Commandant Nnaghe Obono Itam said the initiative represented an increased investment in leadership, operational capability and investigative training.
The Tactical Leadership and Command Course is designed for Chief Superintendents of Police, while the Operational Leadership and Command Course targets Deputy Superintendents.
The Advanced Detective Course is open to Deputy Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents and qualified personnel from allied agencies.
Training modules include human resource management, human rights, policing responsibilities, crime scene investigation, criminal psychology and evidence collection.
The college said the programmes would use practical and scenario based learning to expose officers to real operational challenges.
Participants will also undergo performance assessment through briefings, debriefings and structured reviews.
The training includes methods designed to promote continuous learning and operational improvement.
The commandant urged participants to return to their formations ready to apply new skills to policing and security operations nationwide.
