Oyebanji Eyes 700,000 Ekiti Votes for Tinubu, Promises Unity in Second Term

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, fresh off a historic re-election, says his state can deliver between 600,000 and 700,000 votes for President Bola Tinubu in the January 2027 general election, a target he backs with a clear trend line: All Progressives Congress support in Ekiti climbed from about 187,000 votes in the 2022 governorship election to roughly 210,000 in the 2023 presidential poll and about 318,000 in this year’s governorship race.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Tinubu, Oyebanji credited his own re-election, the first for any governor in the state, to divine favor and the president’s backing, saying the two factors together let his administration deliver on its promises. With campaigning now over, he pledged a more inclusive second term, describing personal outreach to his two main rivals: he has already called both candidates and visited one alongside his campaign council chairman, with a visit to the other still to come, and said both have pledged cooperation going forward. On policy, he said his government intends no change of course, continuing to follow the thirty year development plan that already guides Ekiti’s budgets and priorities.
