Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election for another term in office following his victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, was declared winner of the August 15, 2026 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji described Adeleke’s victory in the keenly contested election as a reflection of the choice of the majority of Osun voters.
Oyebanji urged the re-elected governor to be magnanimous in victory and extend his hand of fellowship to other candidates who contested the election.
He also encouraged Adeleke to seek the contributions and ideas of his opponents as he begins his new term, stressing the importance of inclusive governance in advancing the development of Osun State.
The Ekiti governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as providing a level playing field for all candidates during the election.
According to Oyebanji, the conducive environment created by the Federal Government contributed to reducing political tension and allowed the election to take place in a relatively fair atmosphere.
He expressed confidence that Adeleke’s re-election would provide an opportunity for the governor to consolidate on his administration’s achievements and work with stakeholders across political divides for the progress of Osun State.
