Oluremi Tinubu Says Economic Recovery Is Gathering Momentum, Launches Door-to-Door Campaign Headquarters

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s economic outlook, saying renewed investor interest and ongoing government reforms indicate that the country is making progress towards recovery and sustainable development.

She spoke in Abuja at the inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement headquarters, where she urged supporters of President Bola Tinubu to engage communities respectfully and explain the administration’s policies while listening to citizens’ concerns.

According to the First Lady, grassroots outreach should go beyond canvassing for votes to understanding the needs of families, young people, women and older Nigerians. She said campaigners should promote peace, unity and development, and seek support through persuasion rather than hostility towards political opponents.

She commended the movement for its reported activities in 14 states. Senate President Godswill Akpabio also expressed optimism about the country’s direction, while Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori said increased state revenues had improved governments’ ability to meet salary and contractor obligations. Movement convener Government Ekpemupolo, represented by Matthew Tonlagha, pledged wider mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections.

At a separate event in Wuye, Abuja, Mrs Tinubu laid the foundation for a Renewed Hope Startup Hub being developed by the National Information Technology Development Agency in partnership with the Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency. She described the project as an investment in youth entrepreneurship, digital inclusion and job creation.

NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi said the proposed facility would provide infrastructure, mentorship, technical support and opportunities for international collaboration. He valued the initiative at approximately $10.4 million, subject to exchange-rate movements. Japanese Ambassador Suzuki Hideo reaffirmed his country’s interest in cooperation with Nigeria in education and technology.
