NIS Opens Resolution Process for Delayed UK Passport Applications

ABUJA — The Nigeria Immigration Service has opened a resolution process for Nigerians in the UK who completed contactless passport applications but have yet to receive their passports.

The Service announced the intervention on Sunday, 6 September 2026, via its official social media account, directing affected applicants to complete a Contactless Passport Application Resolution Form linked in the announcement.

The form asks for applicants’ names, contact information, application and reference numbers, and current location in the UK. Applicants must also state whether they sent their old passports with self-addressed return envelopes to the Nigeria High Commission, and whether they have tracked their application status.

NIS said complaints submitted through the form would be collated and reviewed after three working days. It warned applicants to use only the verified NIS account, passport numbers, reference numbers and personal contact details should not be shared on unofficial pages, in public comments, or with private accounts claiming to represent the Service.

The move comes shortly before a special passport intervention exercise in London, Manchester, Cardiff and Aberdeen. According to the Nigeria High Commission in London, the London and Manchester legs begin 7 September, with Cardiff and Aberdeen following on 21 September. Applicants who have already completed their applications and received appointment dates can attend at any of the four locations.
