U.S. immigration authorities have arrested a 53-year-old Nigerian national, Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, in Los Angeles over alleged past criminal offences, including child molestation and other sex-related crimes.
The arrest was carried out on April 21, 2026, by officers of the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) unit of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Officials confirmed that Olusanjo is currently in custody and undergoing deportation proceedings.
In a statement posted on its official X platform, the Los Angeles ERO office described the suspect as a “criminal illegal alien and convicted sex offender,” noting that he had prior arrests linked to serious sexual offences.
“Los Angeles ERO arrested Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, 53, of Nigeria, April 21. He has previous arrests for child molestation, sexual battery, and soliciting lewd conduct. He is in ICE custody pending removal,” the agency stated.
A video released alongside the announcement showed the suspect in handcuffs being escorted by officers into a detention facility.
Authorities said the arrest is part of ongoing enforcement operations targeting foreign nationals with criminal records across the United States.
Earlier in the year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security disclosed that dozens of Nigerians were among individuals arrested in a broader crackdown on offenders facing charges ranging from sexual assault and fraud to violent crimes and drug-related offences.
Olusanjo remains in detention as immigration authorities continue with legal processes that could lead to his removal from the United States.
