Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has visited Bin Mper community in Mangu Local Government Area following a deadly attack that killed several residents and left others injured.
The governor described the assault as barbaric and said the killings represented a direct challenge to the state government’s responsibility to protect communities.
Mutfwang met grieving residents and assured them that the administration would continue working with security agencies to pursue those responsible.
He said police had reported arrests in connection with the attack and promised that government would follow the investigation closely.
The governor said security authorities would intensify intelligence led operations and introduce additional measures around vulnerable communities.
He also pledged that residents would not be forced from ancestral land because of repeated violence.
Mutfwang said the government would do everything within its lawful powers to ensure communities remained on their land.
The governor commended young people supporting local security and urged them to remain peaceful, vigilant and law abiding.
He said restoring security required cooperation among communities, traditional institutions, government and security agencies.
Before visiting Bin Mper, Mutfwang received a security briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army.
He later visited the traditional ruler of the Mwaghavul people, John Putmang Hirse.
The monarch described the attack as deliberate and said residents had been asleep when the assailants struck.
Community representatives appealed for calm while urging residents to support security efforts.
Mutfwang said the government would continue strengthening security coordination and intelligence to prevent further attacks in Mangu and other affected parts of Plateau State.
