French President Emmanuel Macron has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following preliminary results showing his ruling party’s victory in parliamentary elections.
Macron, in a post on X on Monday, said the outcome would reinforce Armenia’s direction toward deeper cooperation with Europe and support ongoing reforms in the country.
“I look forward to continuing, by your side, the work we have begun to further strengthen our cooperation in the service of our peoples, to support peace and Armenia’s sovereignty, and to accompany the momentum toward closer ties with Europe,” Macron said.
The message follows official results indicating that Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party secured a comfortable lead in the election, further consolidating its mandate amid Armenia’s shifting foreign policy orientation.
Pashinyan has in recent years pursued closer relations with the European Union and the United States while reducing Armenia’s dependence on Russia, a move that has drawn criticism from Moscow.
The French president’s remarks underscore growing European engagement with Armenia as Yerevan continues to reposition itself geopolitically in the South Caucasus region.
