Labour Party to Hold NEC Meeting June 11 to Ratify Primary Election Results

The Labour Party has announced that its National Executive Committee (NEC) will meet on June 11, 2026, to ratify the results of its recently concluded primary elections and approve the submission of successful candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the meeting will be convened in line with Article 28 of the Labour Party Constitution 2026 and will bring together statutory NEC members, candidates who emerged from the primaries, party organs, INEC representatives, members of the media, and other stakeholders.

According to the party, the NEC is expected to formally endorse the outcomes of the nationwide primary elections and authorize the submission of the names of successful candidates to INEC in accordance with the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution.

The Labour Party also announced that the presentation of Certificates of Return to candidates who secured nominations for the offices of President, Governor, Senate, and House of Representatives will commence immediately after the NEC ratifies the primary election results.

The party described the meeting as a significant milestone in its preparations for the 2027 elections, noting that it will be the first NEC session since its recent National Convention and the completion of its candidate nomination process.

The Labour Party said the gathering would play a key role in consolidating its electoral strategy, strengthening internal mobilization, and positioning the party for the upcoming general elections.

Party officials expressed confidence that the ratification process would further reinforce the credibility of the primaries and provide a solid foundation for its campaign activities ahead of the 2027 polls.
