Kwankwaso Says Obi Will Honour One Term Pledge if Elected in 2027

Nigeria Democratic Congress vice presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has expressed confidence that presidential candidate Peter Obi will honor his pledge to serve only one term if elected in 2027, describing Obi as a man of his word who made the promise publicly.

Speaking in a television interview, Kwankwaso explained that the power sharing arrangement within the coalition is built on mutual trust, and that allowing the South to complete a full eight years in office aligns with the understanding reached among coalition partners. He said the coalition has developed short, medium and long term governance plans that would guide whoever eventually leads the country regardless of which coalition figure occupies the presidency, stressing that the group’s focus remains on implementing its shared agenda rather than any individual’s ambition.
