Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been named UEFA Champions League Player of the Season after a standout campaign that helped the French champions retain their European crown.
The 25-year-old Georgia international was selected by a UEFA technical observer panel following a decisive season in which he registered 10 goals and six assists in 16 appearances, consistently driving PSG’s attacking play throughout the tournament.
Kvaratskhelia played a key role as PSG defeated Arsenal on penalties in Saturday’s final in Budapest, a match that ended 1-1 after extra time before the French side won 4-3 in the shootout. He won the penalty that led to PSG’s equaliser after being brought down in the box, with Ousmane Dembélé converting from the spot.
UEFA’s panel of around 30 football experts, including former managers Gareth Southgate, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Rafael Benítez, described his performances as “pivotal” and “dazzling”.
According to UEFA, one of his most influential displays came in PSG’s dramatic 5-4 semi-final first-leg victory over Bayern Munich, where he scored twice, including a curling equaliser and a powerful second-half strike.
He also found the net across both legs of the round of 16 against Chelsea, added another goal at Liverpool in the quarter-finals, and had earlier scored in the 2025 final when PSG defeated Inter Milan 5-0.
The award caps a dominant European campaign for Kvaratskhelia, who has established himself as one of the continent’s leading attacking talents since joining PSG.
