INEC Announces Final Voter Registration Phase to Run Until July

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that the third and final phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise will commence on May 11, 2026 and run until July 10, 2026, giving eligible Nigerians a final structured opportunity to register, transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, or correct their biodata before the electoral cycle for 2027 intensifies.

INEC Commissioner for Information and Voter Education Mohammed Haruna announced the dates in a statement, explaining that the second phase of the exercise had been suspended on April 17, 2026 to allow the commission to clean up the register following its publication for claims and objections by registrants.

Haruna urged citizens who had attained voting age and those who were unable to register during earlier phases to take advantage of the final window. He directed registrants to access the commission’s dedicated online portal or visit INEC State and Local Government Area offices nationwide.

He disclosed that the commission would display the voters’ register for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026, describing the statutory exercise as an important opportunity for citizens to scrutinize the register and assist the commission in ensuring its accuracy, completeness, and credibility ahead of the 2027 elections.
