IGP Reinforces Counterterrorism Operations after Deadly Kebbi Attack

Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu has ordered the deployment of additional operational and intelligence resources following a terrorist attack in Kebbi State that killed 10 police officers and other civilians.

The attack occurred around the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area.

Disu sent a delegation led by Deputy Inspector General Umar Shehu Nadada to the state to meet Governor Nasir Idris and other stakeholders.

The delegation was directed to review the security situation and strengthen operations aimed at preventing further attacks.

The Inspector General said all available intelligence resources should be used to identify, track and apprehend those responsible.

Police authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the families of the officers who died.

Force officials said the service and sacrifice of the fallen personnel would be recognised in accordance with existing welfare arrangements.

Governor Idris commended the courage of security personnel and pledged continued state support for the Police and other agencies.

He said the government would strengthen intelligence sharing and operational cooperation to deny armed groups safe havens.

The Police said coordinated operations against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes would continue across the affected areas.
