Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has secured the unanimous endorsement of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections.
Hamzat described the endorsement by the apex leadership body of the party in Lagos as “humbling and historic,” noting that he does not take the confidence reposed in him for granted.
He expressed appreciation to the Chairman of the Council, Tajudeen Olusi, and other members for their trust, pledging to justify the mandate through continued commitment to good governance.
According to him, the endorsement comes with a significant responsibility, which he has accepted with humility and a renewed focus on delivering accountable and people-oriented leadership.
The development is seen as a major step in the build-up to the 2027 governorship race in Lagos, as party stakeholders consolidate support around a consensus candidate.
Hamzat also reiterated his commitment to sustaining developmental strides in the state, assuring residents that governance would remain centred on transparency, service delivery, and the welfare of the people.
