Fragrance Launch in Lagos Highlights Breast Cancer Awareness and Women’s Worth

Zora Manuel Scents and Lakeshore Cancer Centre have used the launch of a new fragrance in Lagos to draw attention to breast cancer awareness and the need to recognize women’s value beyond their public achievements. The fragrance, Nwanyibuife: In Her Becoming, was unveiled during Breast Cancer Awareness Month at an event in Victoria Island.

Brand founder Chiazor Onyebadi said the project was shaped partly by the loss of a woman close to her family to cancer. She described the fragrance as a tribute to women navigating different stages of life, including illness, work, caregiving and personal growth. The Igbo name Nwanyibuife conveys the idea that a woman is valuable.

Lakeshore Cancer Centre medical director Oge Ilegbune used the event to explain that breast cancer outcomes and treatment depend on the disease’s type and stage. She encouraged awareness of changes beyond a breast lump, including nipple changes or unusual discharge, and stressed the importance of appropriate medical assessment and specialist-led treatment when cancer is diagnosed.

The fragrance combines fruit notes including passionfruit, grapefruit, mangosteen and peach with vanilla. Organisers said the event was intended to celebrate women while encouraging greater attention to health. Breast symptoms should be assessed by qualified clinicians; awareness events are not a substitute for screening or diagnosis.
