The Federal Government has deployed a special Passport Intervention Team to four regions of the United Kingdom in an effort to reduce delays and make passport renewal and enrollment easier for Nigerians living abroad.
The initiative was directed by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo following consultations involving the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigerian High Commission and diaspora representatives.
The mobile exercise will begin in London and Manchester from September 7 to September 19.
Applicants in London will be attended to at Layali Lounge on Bramley Road, while the Manchester intervention will take place at Nigerian House on Platt Lane.
The exercise will then move to Aberdeen and Cardiff from September 21 to September 26.
The Aberdeen centre will operate at the Hilton Convention Centre on Smithfield Road, while the Cardiff exercise will hold at Sophia Gardens.
Officials said the physical centers would handle biometric capture and the resolution of application issues.
Applicants must, however, complete their applications and payments online through the official Nigeria Immigration Service passport portal before attending.
No cash payments or unregistered walk-ins will be accepted at the intervention centers.
The outreach is part of a wider passport reform programme aimed at reducing backlogs and improving service delivery for Nigerians in the diaspora.
The Ministry of Interior has increasingly used mobile passport interventions to address high-demand locations where applicants previously faced long travel distances or extended processing delays.
Officials said the UK exercise was intended to bring services closer to Nigerians while maintaining centralized digital registration and payment controls.
