The Federal Government has praised Abia State Governor Alex Otti for constructing and handing over a Nigerian Air Force administrative complex in Umuahia.

The facility was formally transferred on July 31, 2026, to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Kelvin Aneke, and the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa. It is the first Nigerian Air Force complex of its kind provided by a state government in the area.

Otti said the project reflected his administration’s commitment to protecting residents and visitors. He described the arrival of the Air Force as the completion of the presence of all three branches of the armed forces in Abia, alongside the Army’s Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Barracks in Ohafia and the Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance in Owerinta.

The governor thanked President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the Air Force for supporting the initiative. He assured the service that the state government would continue to provide assistance within its powers to help personnel carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Aneke described the project as a major contribution to national security and regional development. He said it was rare for a governor to provide infrastructure of such scale directly to the Air Force and added that the gesture had reduced a significant burden on the service.

The Air Chief promised that personnel deployed to the state would prioritise the safety and welfare of the people.

Musa also commended Otti, describing him as a leader whose actions demonstrated his priorities. He urged Air Force personnel assigned to the complex to maintain professionalism and contribute positively to the state.

State officials said the complex was constructed according to Air Force specifications. Its facilities include an auditorium, conference hall, clinic, armoury, offices, canteen, guardroom, gatehouse and observation post.
