APC Group Backs Al Makura for 2027 Presidential Campaign Leadership

The APC Integrity Group has endorsed former Nasarawa State governor Tanko Al Makura for the position of Director General of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 election.

The endorsement comes amid continuing consultations over who should coordinate the ruling party’s national campaign. Former Zamfara State governor Abdulaziz Yari and Imo State governor Hope Uzodimma have also been mentioned among those being considered for the position.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Ibrahim Mamman, and National Secretary, Goodluck Okafor, the group acknowledged that several senior party figures had the experience required for the assignment. It nevertheless argued that Al Makura possessed the strongest combination of loyalty, national appeal, administrative experience and political stability.

The group described him as one of the founding figures of the progressive movement and said his political career had been marked by discipline, humility and service. It also praised his role in expanding the APC’s influence in the North Central region and strengthening the party nationally.

According to the group, the success of the 2027 presidential campaign will depend on appointing a coordinator who can work across political, ethnic and religious divisions. It maintained that Al Makura’s relationships across the country and his long standing commitment to the party make him well suited to lead the campaign.
