FAAN Confirms No Fire Incident at Lagos Airport Terminal 2

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has clarified that there was no fire outbreak at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, contrary to reports suggesting a fire incident at the facility.

In an updated advisory issued on Sunday, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, explained that the smoke seen inside the terminal was caused by the discharge of the airport’s FM-200 fire suppression system.

According to the authority, the circumstances that triggered the automatic activation of the fire suppression system are currently under investigation.

FAAN assured passengers, airport users and the general public that the situation has been brought under control and that normal operations have fully resumed at the terminal.

The authority added that a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the system’s activation and reiterated its commitment to maintaining safety and security across all airport facilities.
