England Striker Ivan Toney Charged With Assault Over Alleged London Nightclub Incident

England international and Al Ahli striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm in connection with an alleged incident at a London nightclub.

The charge, filed on July 31, relates to an incident said to have occurred in Soho on December 6, 2025. Toney is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24.

In a statement issued on his behalf, Toney’s spokesperson said the footballer acknowledges the charge but was surprised by the development and intends to contest the allegations in court.

“Ivan acknowledges the charge and, while naturally shocked, looks forward to having the opportunity to clear his name in court,” the statement said.

The 30-year-old forward currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli and was part of England’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He made a substitute appearance in England’s 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina before starting the third-place playoff, where England defeated France 6-4.

Toney has earned 10 senior caps for England, scoring one international goal.

Before joining Al Ahli, he enjoyed a successful spell with Brentford, helping the club secure promotion to the Premier League and scoring 36 goals in 85 league appearances. He has also featured for Northampton Town, Newcastle United, and Peterborough United.

The case is expected to proceed when Toney appears in court later this month.
