The EU Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria programme has launched Election ReportPoint, a citizen reporting platform designed to document misconduct and threats to peaceful elections.
The channel will allow Nigerians to report incidents such as violence, intimidation, vote buying, ballot snatching and disruption of voting.
Although the platform is intended for broader electoral use, it will be deployed during the Osun State governorship election.
International Press Centre Executive Director Lanre Arogundade said citizens were often among the first people to witness incidents that could undermine an election.
He said the reporting platform would provide a direct route for credible information to reach organisations involved in election monitoring and accountability.
Reports submitted through the platform will be assessed before verified incidents are escalated to relevant stakeholders.
Organisers said the verification process was intended to reduce the risk of misinformation and ensure that only credible reports were acted upon.
Arogundade urged citizens to use the service responsibly and provide accurate information.
The initiative is funded by the European Union under its democratic governance support programme in Nigeria.
Citizens can submit reports through telephone and WhatsApp channels provided by the programme.
Organisers said wider citizen participation could help document electoral violations, improve accountability and protect peaceful participation in the voting process.
