The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, following his conviction in absentia over corruption-related offences.
According to the EFCC, Mamman had allegedly been on the run before he was apprehended in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State.
Confirming the development, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede said the former minister had earlier been convicted and sentenced in absentia to 75 years imprisonment.
The anti-graft agency disclosed that the conviction stemmed from corruption-related offences allegedly committed during Mamman’s tenure in office.
Authorities also indicated that further details regarding his arraignment and possible transfer to custody are expected in the coming hours.
Mamman served as Nigeria’s Minister of Power under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
