A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a no-case submission filed by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in his ongoing trial over the alleged unlawful interception of the telephone communications of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Delivering ruling on Monday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik held that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to establish a prima facie case against the defendant.
The court subsequently ordered El-Rufai to enter his defence if he chooses to do so.
El-Rufai is facing trial over allegations that he unlawfully intercepted Ribadu’s telephone communications, a charge he has denied.
Following the ruling, Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the matter until November 25 for the commencement of the defence case.
