Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has said effective military operations depend heavily on the availability and serviceability of operational platforms, particularly mobility assets required to move personnel, equipment and supplies.
Shaibu spoke during the commissioning of refurbished operational vehicles and the Nightingale Club at 1 Women Battalion, Giri, Abuja.
He said the refurbishment programme formed part of efforts to improve troop mobility, operational responsiveness and personnel welfare.
According to the Army chief, reliable vehicles are essential for responding quickly to operational requirements and sustaining military effectiveness.
Represented by Acting Director of Army Public Relations Colonel Appolonia Anele, Shaibu directed commanders and personnel entrusted with the vehicles to ensure proper maintenance, responsible use and strict compliance with regulations.
He stressed that the platforms were public assets that must be protected, accounted for and used solely for authorized military purposes.
The COAS also described the Nightingale Club as an investment in the human dimension of military effectiveness.
He said a resilient military force required not only equipment but also facilities that supported morale, family wellbeing, recreation and cohesion.
The club, he said, would provide opportunities for personnel and their families to relax and interact in a healthy social environment.
Shaibu commended the leadership and personnel of 1 Women Battalion, contractors, civilian staff and other stakeholders involved in delivering the projects.
He said the achievements demonstrated the importance of leadership, prudent resource management and collective responsibility as the Nigerian Army continued to optimize available resources for evolving security demands.
