The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will take place from June 19 to July 17, marking a historic edition to be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The dates were approved by the FIFA Council during a meeting in Vancouver, Canada, amid earlier concerns about the host nations’ readiness for the tournament.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed confidence in the preparations, stating that efforts to stage the competition in East Africa remain firmly on track.
“We have worked hard to ensure that the AFCON is held in East Africa, and our commitment remains unwavering. I am confident that we will organise a very successful AFCON in these three countries,” he said.
However, CAF has yet to announce which of the host nations will stage the opening match and the final.
The 2027 tournament will be the first Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted across three countries, underscoring a new era of regional collaboration in African football.
It will also mark the return of the continent’s premier football competition to East Africa for the first time since the 1976 edition held in Ethiopia.
