Bala Mohammed Calls for Peaceful, Issue-Based Campaigns ahead of 2027

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has urged political parties and supporters to conduct the 2027 campaign peacefully and focus on policies and programmes rather than personal attacks.

The governor spoke in Bauchi after returning from an official engagement in Abuja.

He said parties should comply with Independent National Electoral Commission guidelines and all applicable laws governing political activity.

Mohammed said his own political platform would observe the rules and urged rivals to do the same.

He argued that campaign messages should centre on ideas capable of improving citizens’ lives.

The governor warned against violence, intimidation and inflammatory personal attacks.

He also complained that some of his campaign posters and billboards had been destroyed by opponents.

Those allegations were made by the governor and were not independently verified in the supplied material.

Mohammed said he had deliberately chosen restraint and would not use state power to target political opponents.

He insisted that political actors should not mistake restraint for weakness.

The governor called on traditional rulers and security agencies to remain impartial throughout the election period.

He said Bauchi’s reputation for relative peace should not be undermined by political competition.

Mohammed added that his administration was preparing to take its campaign to all parts of the state.

He appealed to all stakeholders to exercise mutual respect and prevent political disagreements from escalating into security problems.
