The leadership of the People’s Redemption Party has said it still relates well with Nigerian Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso, despite the pair parting ways with the party.
PRP National Chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, on the Arise Television Morning Show, said the two had considered joining the party but concluded their needs would not be met. “They moved on, and we parted as friends, and we’re still friends with them,” he said.
He dismissed as fiction allegations that Kwankwaso bought 69 PRP nomination forms in Kano. “There’s no way former Governor Kwankwaso could have bought 69 forms from the PRP in Kano. We don’t sell forms in Kano, we sell forms from Abuja,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed said the man who claimed the forms were sold held no position and was unknown to the party, suggesting the episode may have been contrived as part of internal politics in Kano. He added that he had spoken with Kwankwaso, who was equally amused by the claim.
