Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has inaugurated the newly remodeled Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, disclosing that President Bola Tinubu has approved 46 billion naira for resurfacing and reconstructing the airport’s second runway.
Keyamo said the terminal, named after a celebrated Kano aviation pioneer, reflects the federal government’s ongoing modernization of Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing Kano as the commercial heartbeat of northern Nigeria and a priority for major upgrades. He noted that work on the airport’s Hajj Terminal has already begun, with contractors on site, and that the president’s decision to appoint Kano indigene Abdullahi Ganduje to chair the Federal Airports Authority board reflects the administration’s vision for the airport’s future.
Federal Airports Authority Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku said the upgraded terminal reflects the authority’s commitment to providing world class facilities and enhancing the travel experience for passengers, while Ganduje, chairing the authority’s governing board, commended Tinubu and Keyamo for prioritizing aviation development in Kano, saying the ongoing projects would further cement the state’s position as northern Nigeria’s leading commercial and aviation hub.
