Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ideological Group convener Bamidele Atoyebi has called on President Bola Tinubu to require stronger delegation of authority across federal ministries and agencies.
Atoyebi said excessive concentration of decision making in the offices of ministers and agency heads was creating avoidable delays in government.
He argued that routine procurement, payments and administrative approvals should not stop whenever a senior official travelled or became unavailable.
According to him, some institutions lacked clear handover procedures and depended too heavily on a single official’s signature.
Atoyebi said that approach undermined continuity and weakened public administration.
He proposed that every political appointee should designate a competent deputy with clearly defined authority to handle routine matters during periods of absence.
The convener also raised concerns about the difficulty citizens, professionals and policy advocates often face when trying to reach senior government officials.
He said many people seeking meetings were not asking for favours but attempting to offer useful ideas and solutions.
Atoyebi proposed a direct presidential feedback mechanism through which Nigerians could communicate concerns and suggestions to the Presidency.
He suggested a digital platform or dedicated feedback channel that would allow the President to receive unfiltered information about the performance of ministries and agencies.
Atoyebi also recommended appointing a presidential aide responsible for policy coordination and monitoring administrative continuity across government.
He said the proposed official could track whether senior appointees were accessible, present and delivering on their responsibilities.
Atoyebi maintained that stronger delegation, easier access and direct citizen feedback would improve accountability and reduce administrative bottlenecks.
