The Allied Peoples Movement says its presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, is well positioned to win the 2027 presidential election given his rising popularity as a credible alternative to President Bola Tinubu, and has confirmed uploading Makinde’s details alongside those of the party’s other candidates to INEC’s nomination portal in line with the commission’s timetable.
National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf told reporters in Abuja that nomination details for the party’s presidential, vice presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives candidates have all been successfully submitted to INEC, part of what he called a determined push that is taking no half measures in intensifying the party’s engagement with Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots, while ensuring the credibility of its candidates at every level. He said that engagement is already paying off, with the party seeing an unprecedented surge in members and supporters since the entry of key political figures, especially Makinde and his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, who is separately contesting a senatorial seat in Bauchi State.
We have uploaded details of our presidential, vice presidential and National Assembly candidates as required by INEC, Yusuf said, calling it another milestone toward offering Nigerians a credible, competent, people oriented alternative in 2027, rooted in continuous engagement with citizens and an array of credible candidates across the country. He described APM’s candidates as men and women of proven character, integrity and outstanding performance who embody accountability, service and purposeful leadership, arguing that citizens’ genuine concerns over the rising cost of living, insecurity, unemployment and shrinking economic opportunity demand practical solutions and compassionate leadership, which he said only the APM can offer. With an APM led administration and Makinde on the saddle, he said, the welfare of Nigerians would sit at the centre of government policy, calling Makinde a presidential candidate with both the commitment and the leadership capacity to secure the nation, rebuild the economy and ensure every Nigerian enjoys the dividends of good governance.
