African governments and businesses are preparing to present about $4 billion in investment opportunities to global institutional investors at the Africa Business Investment Summit in Washington, DC.
The two day event is scheduled for August 27 and 28 at MGM National Harbor and is targeting at least $500 million in signed Memoranda of Understanding and Letters of Intent.
The summit is being organised by the Millennium Excellence Foundation and will bring together institutional investors, private equity and private credit firms, development finance institutions, sovereign representatives, family offices, policymakers and business executives.
Organisers said the event would focus on infrastructure, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, technology, energy, critical minerals, financial technology, health technology and the creative economy.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is expected to deliver the royal keynote and preside over the closing signing ceremony.
Other expected participants include senior public officials from Ghana, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu and business leaders from companies and investment organisations operating across Africa and the United States.
Millennium Excellence Foundation President Nana Agyeman Prempeh said improvements in institutions, policy reforms and blended finance structures were helping to reduce the perceived risk attached to African projects.
He said the summit was intended to connect those projects directly with global investors seeking competitive returns outside traditional developed markets.
The first day will focus on the policy and institutional environment needed to unlock investment, with discussions on diaspora capital, critical minerals and energy infrastructure.
The second day will concentrate on transaction execution through sector specific deal rooms and bilateral meetings between investors and project sponsors.
Organisers said several of the projects would be supported by government incentives and commercial structures designed to meet institutional investment requirements.
The summit forms part of Millennium Excellence Week, which combines leadership recognition with commercial engagement.
The organisers said the central objective was to move beyond speeches and networking toward signed commitments and investible transactions that could channel more global capital into African enterprises and infrastructure.
