Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has described the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress as being in a state of political disarray, insisting that his administration’s infrastructure projects met strict engineering and procurement standards under its local content policy.

Reviewing his reelection campaign after touring nine local government areas, Adeleke thanked residents for what he described as overwhelming support during the commissioning of projects across the state ahead of next month’s election.

He said his tour covered Osogbo, Iwo, Ila, Ilesa and Ile Ife, and that residents in each area have shown strong appreciation for his administration’s work, in contrast to what he called the failures of the opposition.

The governor alleged that the state APC attempted to obstruct development by diverting more than 350 billion naira in local government funds in an effort to stop major projects from being completed. He said those projects have now been finished and are being commissioned for public use.

He said his administration followed sound engineering practices and lawful procurement procedures, crediting local engineers, suppliers and technicians for quality work delivered with maintenance plans built in for long term use.

Adeleke claimed that since the opposition’s efforts to block his development agenda failed, the party has fallen into disarray, with members reportedly defecting to the Accord party, even as residents continue to turn out in large numbers to welcome his administration.

He thanked residents of Iwo, Ifelodun, Boripe, Odo Otin, Ejigbo, Atakumosa, Ife South, Ayedire and Olaoluwa for their support, and promised to visit other areas soon.

The governor urged residents to reject what he described as psychological pressure tactics by the opposition, cautioning them against surrendering their voter cards or national identification numbers, which he said were part of schemes to disenfranchise voters. He said the August 15 election would be decided by the people’s votes and could not be rigged, and urged residents to disregard rumors, vote and safeguard their ballots.
