The African Democratic Congress has confirmed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar paid N90 million via bank draft for a presidential nomination form to contest the 2027 general election on the party’s platform, disclosing the transaction through an official receipt published on the party’s social media account.
The ADC posted Official Receipt No. 2881 dated May 8, 2026, confirming the payment and describing the development as marking a significant moment in what it called a growing movement for national renewal and democratic inclusion within the party.
The party said the formal presentation of the nomination forms would take place at the ADC National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, describing the next steps in the process as part of building internal momentum ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
The ADC positioned the development as further evidence of its growing status as a credible opposition alternative in Nigeria’s competitive political space, framing Atiku’s payment as a statement of intent that signaled an early and notable move in the unfolding 2027 presidential contest.
