Actress Doris Ogala Apologises to Lagos Court as Bail Ruling Is Deferred

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has apologized to a Federal High Court in Lagos over her conduct at an earlier hearing, while the court deferred its ruling on her bail application until November 6, 2026.

Ogala, who has pleaded not guilty to charges including alleged cyberstalking and attempted extortion involving Pastor Chris Okafor, reportedly knelt before Justice Akintayo Aluko and expressed regret for disrupting proceedings. The judge said the incident had affected other cases scheduled for hearing.

Her lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, asked the court to grant bail on reasonable terms, while prosecution counsel Tolulope Mokolu urged restrictions designed to prevent interference with witnesses and the proceedings, particularly through social media activity.

Justice Aluko reserved his decision, and Ogala was returned to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the ruling. Her lawyer said he intended to petition the Attorney-General of the Federation to discontinue the prosecution, arguing that the dispute involved private grievances and freedom of expression.

The prosecution alleges that intimate images were published without consent. These remain allegations before the court, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The legal arguments advanced by counsel have not been adopted as findings by the court.
