Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke has urged the Nigerian Air Force to strengthen doctrinal development, research and professional military education in response to increasingly complex security threats.
Aneke made the call during the commissioning of vehicles procured for the Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre. He was represented by the Chief of Logistics, Air Vice Marshal Henry Yurkusi.
The Air Chief said modern aircraft and equipment were not sufficient on their own. He argued that effective operations also required sound doctrine, realistic training, institutional learning and the ability to apply lessons from previous missions.
He described the centre as an important institution for shaping how the Air Force understands air power, trains personnel and responds to emerging operational needs. The newly commissioned vehicles, he said, would support training, administrative coordination and official engagements.
Aneke urged the centre to ensure that operational experience informed the continuous review of procedures and concepts. He said the goal was to develop personnel and doctrine capable of translating professional knowledge into better operational performance.
