Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bashorun Dele Momodu, has said the opposition party has a strategy to prevent President Bola Tinubu from securing a second term in the 2027 general election.
Momodu made the assertion during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, stating that opposition forces were working behind the scenes to challenge the President’s re-election bid.
While declining to disclose details of the strategy, he said the ADC would not reveal its plans publicly.
“I can’t tell you about strategy in public. We know what to do to make sure that he does not get that second term,” Momodu said.
The Ovation Magazine publisher also questioned the credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging that appointments to the commission under the current administration had raised concerns among critics.
Momodu claimed that many Nigerians doubted whether the 2027 election would be conducted in a free and fair manner, a position he said was shared by some supporters of the administration.
He further argued that public dissatisfaction with economic conditions could influence voter behaviour in the next election.
The ADC chieftain also alleged that fear among political actors had weakened institutional checks on executive power, claiming that several public office holders were reluctant to challenge the President openly.
