The Managing Director of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Mohammed Goni, has disclosed that the commission’s portfolio of completed, ongoing and planned projects has surpassed N1.5 trillion.
Goni made the disclosure during the 2026 ISO Executive Retreat in Abuja, where senior management staff gathered to strengthen leadership and institutional performance.
According to him, physical infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges, currently account for about N800 billion, while additional projects scheduled for unveiling in the coming weeks will increase the commission’s total project value to approximately N1.5 trillion.
The NEDC boss revealed that a major e-banking project expected to be commissioned soon would cost about N200 billion, while a proposed 50-megawatt mini-grid programme would require a similar investment.
He described the planned energy project as unprecedented at the sub-national level and capable of transforming economic activities across the North-East region.
Goni said the retreat was designed to strengthen accountability, governance and sustainable programme delivery, stressing that the commission’s achievements were based on measurable results rather than assumptions.
