Makinde Promises to Reset Nigeria, Introduce New Security Architecture if Elected President

Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has pledged to reset Nigeria within four years if elected president in the 2027 general election.

Makinde made the promise during the APM North-Central Town Hall Meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where he outlined a reform agenda centred on security, education, the economy and governance.

According to him, Nigeria requires fundamental reforms that would address insecurity, improve educational outcomes, strengthen economic management and transform the country’s socio-political environment.

“The reset agenda can be concluded in four years,” Makinde told supporters, promising to establish a new security architecture and implement policies driven by data and evidence-based decision-making.

The governor also announced plans to establish special programmes for vulnerable groups, including women, widows and persons living with disabilities.

Makinde said his proposed administration would operate as a government of national unity focused on sustainable development and inclusive governance.

He criticised some of the Federal Government’s economic policies and questioned whether increased allocations to states had effectively translated into improved living standards for Nigerians.

Also speaking at the event, APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, said the party was witnessing growing support nationwide ahead of the 2027 elections.

He urged voters not to exchange their votes for financial inducements and called on Nigerians to prioritise competence and good governance.
