Adebutu Opens Ogun Governorship Campaign, Promises Security, Local Government Autonomy

Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate Oladipupo Adebutu has formally launched his 2027 campaign in Ogun State, presenting a seven-point programme built around security, local government autonomy, economic development and social services.

Supporters gathered at the Ake Palace Pavilion in Abeokuta despite heavy rain as the party began its statewide campaign.

Adebutu, running with Yemi Showunmi-Kolapo, urged voters to remove the All Progressives Congress from power and accused the ruling party of poor governance.

Those claims are campaign assertions and remain contested by the incumbent administration.

Adebutu said his programme would focus on security, regional development, physical planning and transportation, rural and urban infrastructure, agriculture, women and youth development, education, healthcare and social services.

He also promised to strengthen local government autonomy and create what he described as a corruption-free working environment.

The PDP candidate urged supporters to vote on February 6, 2027 and to protect their votes through lawful participation in the electoral process.

Showunmi-Kolapo thanked supporters for attending despite the weather and said the ticket would offer what she described as quality leadership.

The campaign launch marks the formal beginning of the PDP’s effort to capture the Ogun governorship in 2027.

As campaigning intensifies, voters are expected to compare Adebutu’s proposals with the record and programme of the incumbent APC administration and other candidates in the race.
