BUA Cement Profit Rises 79 Percent to 384.4 Billion Naira in First Half of 2026

BUA Cement Plc has reported a 79 percent increase in profit before tax to about 324.4 billion naira for the first half of 2026, up from 214.8 billion naira in the same period last year, according to its unaudited half year financial statements.

The company reported revenue of 728.9 billion naira, a 25.6 percent increase from 580.3 billion naira a year earlier, which it attributed to growth in its new market business segment, continued cost containment and a stable foreign currency environment. Direct cost per tonne fell 4.4 percent year on year, while the company’s operating ratio improved to 49.1 percent from 57.9 percent, driving return on assets up to 21.4 percent and return on equity to 52.4 percent. Earnings per share rose to 9.59 naira from 5.34 naira in the prior year period.

Managing Director Yusuf Binji said the company delivered a strong performance despite operating constraints, crediting its focus on new growth opportunities and cost containment measures, and expressed confidence that ongoing process optimization would drive further productivity gains in coming quarters.
