The Office of the Minister of Defence has dismissed as false reports alleging that the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, intends to resign from office.
In a statement issued by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the ministry described the report as “fake news” and the product of deliberate mischief.
The statement clarified that General Musa remains fully committed to his responsibilities and continues to focus on implementing Nigeria’s defence and national security strategy.
According to the ministry, the Defence Minister is dedicated to discharging his mandate, with ongoing efforts already yielding positive results in the country’s security operations.
“The report is false and borne out of complete mischief. General Christopher Gwabin Musa remains focused on his national security mandate, committed to his duties, and dedicated to piloting the nation’s defence strategy with results already being seen,” the statement said.
The ministry urged members of the public to disregard the report, stressing that it has no factual basis.
It also called on media organisations to verify information before publication and seek clarification from the Office of the Minister to prevent the spread of misinformation.
