Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy Monisade Afuye have received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, with the governor pledging to deepen good governance and accelerate development.
Oyebanji, returned on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Saturday’s governorship election, polled 319,224 votes to secure a second term. INEC National Commissioner Sam Olumekun presented the certificates at the commission’s state office in Ado Ekiti.
“The renewed mandate is a call to greater service. We will consolidate on the gains of the first term and work harder to ensure that every part of Ekiti feels the impact of government,” Oyebanji said, describing the victory as belonging to all Ekiti residents regardless of affiliation.
INEC also presented Certificates of Return to winners of the June 20 by elections in Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo and Kano states, with National Commissioner May Agbamuche-Mbu urging them to justify the confidence of their constituents and commending stakeholders for maintaining peace.
