Aregbesola Rallies ADC Supporters in Osun, Criticises Current Leadership

Former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has urged members and supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State to remain steadfast despite what he described as intimidation and political oppression.

Aregbesola made the remarks during the ADC stakeholders’ meeting held in Ilesa, where party leaders and supporters gathered ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Addressing attendees, the former governor commended party stakeholders for their continued loyalty and commitment to the ADC, despite alleged political pressure from opponents.

“I sincerely appreciate everyone who attended the event and encourage you to remain steadfast despite the attacks, oppression and intimidation from those who believe they can continue to silence us,” he said.

Aregbesola criticised the current leadership at the national level, accusing those in power of failing to uphold the core responsibilities of government, particularly the welfare and security of citizens.

“Those currently in charge of our affairs at the national level have failed to uphold the fundamental principles of government, which are the welfare and security of the people,” he stated.

The former minister insisted that the ADC remained committed to offering an alternative political platform, adding that the party continued to gain support across the country despite challenges.

“We are proud members of the ADC, and despite all attacks against us, our party continues to grow in leaps and bounds,” he added.

Aregbesola also used the occasion to endorse the party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, Najeem Folasayo Salaam Iwaloye, describing him as a dedicated and people-oriented leader capable of restoring development in the state.

According to him, the ADC candidate possesses the experience, loyalty, and commitment needed to return Osun to what he described as the path of progress established before 2018.

He called on residents of the state to support the party in the upcoming election, assuring them that the ADC would deliver responsible and people-focused governance if elected into office.
