Zamfara West Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari has issued a categorical denial of any connection to gold bars worth approximately N4 billion reportedly seized by the EFCC at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, threatening legal action against all individuals, organization’s, and media platforms involved in circulating what he described as a fabricated, defamatory, and politically orchestrated campaign to damage his reputation.
In a statement issued by his Chief of Staff Abdullahi Abdulkarim Tsafe, the senator’s office said the EFCC’s public communication on the matter had identified arrested individuals without naming Yari as a suspect or person of interest, and that the attempt to link him to the seizure was driven by political adversaries who had become uncomfortable with his growing national influence and close relationship with President Tinubu and had turned to media manipulation after failing to diminish his standing through legitimate political competition.
The statement said the senator’s legal team had been directed to commence proceedings against all parties responsible for originating, sponsoring, publishing, and amplifying the allegations, and that those responsible would be required to substantiate their claims before judicial authorities. It urged the public to disregard the reports as lacking factual foundation and constituting defamation under the guise of news reporting.
