The Village Boys Movement (VBM), a grassroots-driven socio-political organization advocating for national transformation, paid a high-profile congratulatory visit to former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi on Sunday, following his victory at the Nigeria Democracy Congress (NDC) special convention.
The visit came less than 24 hours after Obi officially emerged as the NDC’s presidential flag bearer for the upcoming 2027 general elections during the party’s weekend convention.
The high-powered delegation was led by the “Village Headmaster” of the movement, Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, alongside the group’s Director of Mobilization, Hon. Amb. Justin Kingland. Speaking during the courtesy visit, the leadership of the VBM characterized Obi’s political transition and subsequent emergence as a defining moment for millions of citizens who are actively yearning for competent, transparent, and transformational leadership.
> “The emergence of Mr. Peter Obi as the NDC presidential candidate represents a significant step forward for Nigerians seeking genuine change, national rebirth, and purposeful leadership,” the delegation noted during the interaction.
The socio-political group emphasized its long-standing alignment with Obi, noting that the presidential candidate has consistently identified with the vision and core ideals of the VBM. The movement operates as a rapidly growing grassroots network dedicated to empowering ordinary citizens through strategic civic engagement, responsible leadership development, and active democratic participation.
Reflecting on the significance of the meeting, Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke reiterated the organization’s determination to upscale its mobilization efforts across various villages, towns, and cities to defend democratic values and foster active grassroots participation ahead of the next electoral cycle.
> “The Village Boys Movement remains steadfast in its mission to engage, enlighten, and mobilize Nigerians at the grassroots level in pursuit of accountable leadership, good governance, and sustainable national development,” Ezeoke stated.
The VBM, which continues to expand its footprint across rural and urban communities nationwide, brings together a network of citizens advocating for integrity, competence, and institutional accountability. The visit concluded with a strategic reaffirmation of the movement’s enduring slogan and a shared optimism regarding the future of the nation’s political landscape.
