Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday formally submitted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms to the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), signalling the start of the party’s internal process ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The submission was made at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where Shettima presented the documents to APC national officers and used the occasion to rally support for the President’s second-term ambition.
The Vice President, who spoke in the presence of party leaders, governors, and members of the National Assembly, urged unity within the ruling party, describing Tinubu’s leadership as central to ongoing national recovery efforts.
According to him, President Tinubu has demonstrated the capacity to steer Nigeria out of its economic and social challenges through the administration’s policy framework under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“We are here, first, as Nigerians, and secondly as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to submit this very priceless nomination form of our dear President and leader, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he seeks to lead us for another four-year term,” Shettima said.
He added that the party must consolidate on what he described as the administration’s progress, calling on stakeholders across all levels of the APC to back the President’s bid.
The submission marks a formal step in the APC’s internal preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the party expected to outline its timetable for primaries and other nomination processes in the coming months.
