Umahi: Tinubu Will Solve Nigeria’s Security Problems in Second Term

Minister of Works David Umahi has declared that President Bola Tinubu will fully resolve Nigeria’s security challenges if given a second mandate in the 2027 elections, speaking at an APC presidential primary in Ebonyi State where more than 5,000 party members turned out to affirm Tinubu as the party’s candidate.

Umahi used the occasion at Umunaga Ward in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area, to describe Ebonyi as an unshakeable stronghold of the APC, saying residents had made their loyalty unambiguous and that no other party had a meaningful presence in the local government area.

He credited Tinubu’s administration with integrating the South-East into national governance through federal appointments and infrastructure investment, using language that drew on the historical resonance of the region’s political exclusion. He said the appointments and projects being executed across the region demonstrated the president’s commitment to the South-East in a way previous administrations had not matched.

On the economic reforms that removed fuel subsidies and floated the naira, Umahi acknowledged that ordinary Nigerians had endured a painful adjustment period but insisted the structural changes had stabilised the country’s macroeconomic foundations. He said the worst of the adjustment was behind the country and that the benefits of the reforms would soon reach households at the grassroots level. He commended ongoing federal road and bridge construction projects as evidence that the administration was actively restoring infrastructure across the country
