President Bola Tinubu has extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, calling on citizens to embrace sacrifice, compassion, unity and faith as the nation continues its journey of renewal and reconstruction.
In his 2026 Eid-el-Kabir message, Tinubu thanked God for preserving lives to witness the celebration and described the festival as a reminder of the virtues demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, including obedience, devotion and selflessness.
According to the president, the occasion offers an opportunity for Nigerians to strengthen bonds of brotherhood, show compassion to the less privileged and pray for peace and progress in the country.
“One central lesson of Eid-el-Kabir is the call to show mercy and compassion, regardless of race, ethnicity, or creed,” Tinubu stated.
The president said his administration’s economic reforms, though difficult, were necessary to reposition Nigeria for long-term prosperity and sustainable growth.
He expressed optimism that the sacrifices made over the past three years had begun yielding positive outcomes, including a more stable economy and improved investor confidence capable of driving job creation and economic development.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” he said.
Tinubu also assured Nigerians that the government remains committed to tackling insecurity, despite continued attacks by terrorists and bandits in some communities.
He commended the efforts of security and intelligence agencies, referencing the recent elimination of a wanted ISIS leader, while assuring affected communities that they had not been abandoned.
“We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” the president declared.
He urged Muslim faithful to use the occasion to pray for peace, wisdom for leaders and national unity, while encouraging those involved in criminal activities to abandon violence or face the full weight of the law.
The president further reiterated his administration’s commitment to investments in security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
Tinubu concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration and prayed for continued blessings upon Nigeria.
“May Allah accept our sacrifices and prayers, and may He continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
