Tinubu Nominates Dr. Zainab Marwa to Fill North-East Vacancy on NDDC Board

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the name of Dr. Zainab Marwa to the Senate for confirmation as a member of the Niger Delta Development Commission Governing Board representing the North-East geopolitical zone, filling a vacancy created when the zone’s former representative, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, resigned on March 30, 2026, to contest the Adamawa State governorship election.

The nomination was conveyed to the Senate in a letter read during Thursday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who subsequently referred it to the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission for screening and a report within one to two weeks.

In his letter, Tinubu said the appointment was made in accordance with Section 2 of the Niger Delta Development Commission Establishment Act, which empowers the president to appoint board members subject to Senate confirmation. He said Marwa’s nomination was intended to ensure the North-East zone retained its representation on the board and that the commission continued to function without disruption.

If confirmed by the Senate, Marwa will join other board members charged with overseeing the commission’s mandate of facilitating development and infrastructure interventions across the Niger Delta region.
