President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, on his 63rd birthday, commending his dedication, patriotism and commitment to delivering critical road infrastructure across the country.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu lauded Umahi’s performance in office, describing him as one of the administration’s most hardworking ministers.

Before his appointment as Minister of Works, Umahi served as Senator representing Ebonyi South and was a two-term Governor of Ebonyi State between 2015 and 2023, a period during which he was credited with significant infrastructural development in the state.

The President praised the minister’s hands-on approach to supervising projects, noting that he frequently visits construction sites across the country to ensure compliance with approved standards and specifications.

“Engineer Umahi has been one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers—passionate about the job and delivering durable roads and bridges that will last for about a century,” Tinubu said.

He added: “As a minister, he does not just sit in his office or rely on reports from subordinates; he is constantly on the road, personally monitoring construction work nationwide to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals.”

The President urged Umahi to sustain the momentum in road construction and rehabilitation projects, saying the successful delivery of critical infrastructure remains central to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving the quality of life for Nigerians and stimulating economic growth.

Tinubu also wished the minister good health, renewed strength and continued success in his service to the nation, while celebrating the occasion with Umahi and his family.
